My Philosophy of Teaching
Encourage students to make positive change in the community
In my classroom, I want to teach my students more than just how to write an excellent paper or how to use a comma correctly. I want to push my students to their fullest potential and I want to inspire them to become positive and active leaders in their community.

I believe the purpose of education is to teach students about making positive change in society by connecting with them through a strong and safe classroom community, discussing real-world problems and multiple perspectives, and including authentic assessments.
Inspire Life-long learners
Students should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning so that they can become life-long learners. Students should also be challenged to perform open-ended inquiries, working towards solving social problems with realistic and meaningful contexts.

Education does not just stop at high school or college, but should be a continuous experience. I believe as a teacher, that I should encourage students to learning outside of the classroom even after students receive their cap and gown.
Learning is collaborative
I believe that learning is a collaborative process and that everyone in the classroom contributes as a student, teacher, and thinker. I learn from students as much as they learn from me.
Hands-on Education and Community
As an educator, I seek to create a hands-on learning community in the classroom that facilitates peer-to-peer learning and validates the life experiences students bring to the classroom.
