After reading the graphic novel, why do you think of the importance of the title I Am Alfonso Jones? What does this mean and what is the author really trying to say through this? Explain by providing textual evidence.

After the tragic murder of Trayvon Martin in 2012, there were various protests all across the nations. The anthem "I am Trayvon Martin" flashed across TV screens, on hoodies, and various boards during protests.
I believe that Toney Medina used the phrase "I Am..." unite the black community. What happened to Trayvon Martin, Sean Bell, Phillip White, Walter Scoot, Atatiana Jefferson, and others can happen to anyone.
Saying Alfonso's name and the names of our ancestors is essential because it is important to not forget. Once we stop saying their names, the injustice will continue and their memory will be forgotten. As mentioned in my previous post, August Wilson focuses on the importance of memory in order to help the black community to heal. Alfonso's ghost comes back to his family and friends to help them to not only find justice but to also heal from their pain. When Alfonso leaves a note for Danette, he wants her to be able to heal.
